The Crustacean Nation Rises

It was early 2020. COVID was shutting the world down when I found myself in Annapolis, Maryland. “Crab Rave” was exploding on YouTube, so I stopped at a crab restaurant to try real Maryland blue crabs for the first time — and decided to livestream it. I picked up a crab and made it dance while chanting “MEGA MEGA MEGA” to the Crab Rave beat for the upcoming GAW. Little did I know… that one silly moment would birth an entire community. After the stream, viewers began flooding every chat with crab emojis. Instead of fighting it, I leaned all the way in. From that random crab restaurant in Annapolis, the Crustacean Nation rose.
